An eye for the beautiful things in life and on the plate: JANS' combines style, genuine hospitality, quality, and beautifully prepared food that is accessible to ‘JANS’ and everyone. Simply delicious Arnhem-style!

Arnhem originally arose along the Jansbeek – which is how this unique restaurant, located right in front of the Musis Sacrum (concert hall) at Velperplein, got its name. Everyone is welcome to drop in for a cozy drink or a good bite at any time of the day. Management assistant Sherilyn Hundersmarck says: “As a local of Arnhem, you feel at home at JANS', almost like you’re in your own living room or kitchen. There is something for every taste and budget: from bread with croquettes to Côte de Boeuf. Our menu is varied and offers something for every moment of the day. Whatever you eat or drink, the quality is top-notch. Our chefs work with the best seasonal products and, where possible, with local suppliers from the area. At JANS', you can walk in for a fresh breakfast, a delicious piece of cake, a lunch, dinner, or just to enjoy a drink. Everything is possible!”

All in one

JANS' can accommodate no fewer than 180 guests, so having well-functioning equipment is extremely important. They chose DISH for its versatility – including a POS, table reservation system, and staff planner all in one. “We use the DISH POS system in a combination of fixed POS terminals, handheld devices, and both fixed and mobile card readers. Our floor staff are equipped with a belt that carries all the essentials at all times: a handheld device, a mobile card reader, a wallet, and a cleaning cloth.

Ease of use and inventory management

JANS' has no regrets about choosing the DISH POS system. “We experience DISH as user-friendly software, both in the back office and on the floor. There are various options to add to menus and products, such as the doneness of meat, extra add-ons or notes, communicating dietary requirements, or specifying the number of glasses for a bottle of water or wine so the bar knows what to prepare. Inventory management is also a feature that JANS' makes extensive use of. “Even when it’s busy, we don’t have to disappoint our guests because product stock is continuously updated with every order. The floor staff therefore know exactly which products are still available for sale.”

Managing offline and online reservations

To streamline both offline and online reservations, JANS' uses DISH Table Reservation. This also allows for direct bookings through Google, for example. “Settings and availability can be easily updated. When desired, we display specific notifications on certain days, such as when working with special menus during Christmas. The booking module on the website syncs perfectly with the availability entered. Changes in availability are also immediately updated in the booking module.”

Hospitable booking module

Another important aspect for JANS' is that the booking module on the website is clear for guests. Sherilyn says: “We want our guests to be able to easily use the online reservation calendar and receive a proper confirmation when making, changing, or canceling a reservation. Even when confirming a reservation by phone, it is possible to send a reservation confirmation to the guests immediately by entering their email address. These confirmation messages can be easily customized in the back office, both in terms of text and layout (branding).”

Simple staff scheduling

The guest experience at JANS' is, of course, made possible by its strong team, which is deployed as efficiently as possible. Staffing and time tracking run smoothly through the DISH Staff Planner. “This makes scheduling easier, as well as managing vacation requests, for example.” In addition to this functionality, JANS' is very enthusiastic about being able to link the DISH Staff Planner with the POS, allowing them to see labor costs directly alongside revenue. “Even during scheduling, it is immediately clear what the costs are for the hours worked. Tracking staff hours, creating schedules, and handling time-off requests is now easier and takes less time.”
